Methodology and limitations
Figures come from read-only SpeakPal Club product analytics (Amplitude) queried on 4 November 2026 and match Study 1 (conversations, length, goals, return rates; 6 August-3 November 2026, Europe/Madrid), Study 2 (peak hours; 27 October-3 November 2026, Asia/Kolkata) and Study 3 (levels and native languages). A real conversation is a completed call of 30 seconds or longer, a line chosen to exclude dropped or failed connection attempts, most of which last under 10 seconds; shorter sessions are connection attempts. Figures were re-pulled on 4 November 2026 with this 30-second threshold (an earlier version used 60 seconds). Both participants log every call; per-learner figures are unaffected, while session counts are not halved for a single country. Return rates are N-day rates for cohorts from 6 August to 4 October 2026. Levels, goals and native languages are self-reported; country is IP-inferred. An earlier draft used all sessions including drop-offs (for example 49.3 “calls” per learner and a 5 min 54 s average); those figures are superseded.
